A DEXA scan provides a detailed look at bone density and body composition using low-dose X-ray technology. The HormoneSynergy® DEXA assessment includes dedicated bone mineral density (BMD) measurements of the lumbar spine and hip, alongside whole-body composition analysis, including bone mineral content (BMC). These are different measurements: whole-body BMC measures the amount of mineral in the bones assessed, while site-specific hip and spine BMD measurements provide T-scores used to assess osteopenia, osteoporosis, and fracture risk.

Need Body Composition Only?
This $250 DEXA assessment includes dedicated diagnostic bone density measurements of the lumbar spine and hip, as well as whole-body composition analysis, including bone mineral content (BMC).
If you only want body composition measurements, including body fat percentage, lean mass, regional composition, visceral fat, and whole-body bone mineral content (BMC), you can choose the $135 DEXA Whole Body Composition Scan instead. Although it reports BMC, the whole-body-only option does not include dedicated lumbar spine or hip BMD measurements or their diagnostic T-scores for evaluating osteopenia or osteoporosis.
Important distinction: Whole-body BMC is part of a body composition report and does not replace a dedicated hip and spine bone density examination for the clinical evaluation of low bone density.

The $250 DEXA assessment already includes your Hologic® report, a medical assistant overview of your results, and a patient education handout.
If you would like additional clinical interpretation, you may add a 15-minute physician review of your DEXA results with Dr. Kathryn Retzler. The review provides additional clinical context for your bone density, lean mass, body fat percentage, visceral fat, and other relevant DEXA findings.
